I think often times we assume that our website is doing what it always does, waiting for a visitor to request the information we have to share with the world. With all the algorithm changes that take place in search engine world, we often forget to check the basics. Does my website work correctly in all web browsers? If your web designer is worth his/her salt, this has been checked and rechecked. What happens when the browser gets a make over? You just upgraded to version 4 or 7, does the site sill function properly? Below is the usage of web browsers current as of April 2011. If you are a website owner, I would suggest that you download the most current version of every web browser to confirm that your website operates correctly & completely in each.
As you can see from the above chart, the usage of browsers are many, and the need to verify that your website functions correctly in each is so important for many reasons. The traffic that your website receives is hard enough to get, or your paying for it, might as well make pay off by allowing that visitor to see your site. If your website doesn’t operate correctly in the browsers, what type of message are you sending to your customers?
One more suggestion, try loading your website on a variety of your friends smart phones. If you website isn’t smart phone compatible you might talk to your website designer. I am always trying to give my readers helpful information that doesn’t cost them a dime.
